Recently, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China organized the application and selection for the cities to carry out the 2024 national public employment service capacity improvement demonstration project. After a competitive review, publicity, and other procedures, Qingdao City in Shandong Province was selected as one of the 20 cities to gain the 100 million yuan funded by the central government for the project.

It is reported that Qingdao will take this opportunity to focus on the development needs of new quality productive forces. With an emphasis on cultivating and strengthening the public employment service brand Jiuxiangjia (literally "enjoy employment services near home", a community-based employment platform in Qingdao), the city will implement three major initiatives, namely "Skills Empower Qingdao", "Strengthening Foundations and Enhancing Quality", and "Smart Digital Employment Services". It will also carry out 14 characteristic promotion actions and build a new matrix of "1314" public employment services (with a service team of 1,314 specially-assigned persons) based in Qingdao and radiating the Yellow River Basin, while establishing a convenient and efficient public employment service system covering all residents, throughout the whole process, radiating the whole region, with internal and external coordination. In doing so, it aims to achieve high-quality and full employment, which will improve people's happiness and reinforce industrial support, as well as boost the high-quality development of the economy and society.
