On January 30, the Institute of SCO Economic and Trade Development was officially inaugurated in the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA). It will further expand the platform functions of the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade, provide strategic, overall and forward-looking decision-making support for the construction of the SCODA, and promote the development of bilateral and multilateral economic and trade cooperation among SCO countries.

The Institute of SCO Economic and Trade Development will focus on research on strategies, states, industries and policies for SCO countries. In addition, the institute will conduct special analysis and research on the development strategies and national investment policies of SCO countries, the cooperation directions and paths of key cities, industrial parks and special economic zones, and the cooperation trends of industrial chains and supply chains, explore the bilateral and multilateral trade rules of SCO countries, and promote investment and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges among SCO countries to a new level. Since its inauguration in January 2022, the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade has focused on training talents for the SCO and promoting multilateral economic and trade cooperation. It has carried out 78 training sessions on cross-border e-commerce and agricultural export processing, with more than 6,000 participants, providing talent support and intellectual support for local cooperation among SCO countries.
